The Mrs. is done with the BS experience she has had trying to get her claymore mine of a passenger airbag replaced. Since corporate sent her yet another e-mail today asking her to get it fixed I will be taking them up on their offer and calling corporate tomorrow.

I promise to be nice to the guy I talk to at corporate but if I get the run around again (4th time trying to schedule this) there will be hell.

Hopefully your victory won’t be at excessive costs, because then it would be Pyrrhic and a pyrrhic phyrxes is more than I could handle.

Plus the airbag is only a problem if it goes off.

There is a massive parts shortage right now for all those inflator kits. They are really hard for dealers to get in any kind of volume.

I know, but the last time she called corporate and they transferred her to the dealer (that we bought from, they suck now) and they allegedly scheduled her to replace it. She took the boy over to my moms so she could get it done and when she showed up they were very confused as to why she was there and she wasn’t on the schedule.

So I’m going to play relatively nice but and among other things request a completely different dealer (that doesn’t suck and is about the same distance away).

I know the corporate person isn’t at fault but her car is largely useless to us now as we can’t use it as a family vehicle with the addition of the second car seat.

We still don’t have a repair date for our ‘08 VW. Driving it anyway.

How can Toyota be so slow at all this? GM replaced my airbag within 2 months of recall notification.

Bingo, that is the magical question that I hope to get answered tomorrow.

I wonder if you could just pay GM to replace your airbag instead (I assume you have a Corolla/Matrix or something?)

Its a 5 speed CE, now with over 118k on the clock. But its starting to show its age, I need to redo the rear door seals or whatever Toyota calls the part on the body not the door.

I have received zero follow up since my recall notice from BMW. So it could be worse.

I had to do some research on this recently. I found out that the inflator kits aren’t universal, so it might just be that GM was lucky to have some handy when your car came in. Toyota might just currently be SOL depending on which kits Takata (and the other airbag OEMs that have been brought in to make up the shortfall) are able to provide right now.

Your car might have also been deemed “higher priority” due to its age, your location, which airbag(s) were affected, or some combination of other factors.
